Lee Steel is the proud parent of two adult children. Her eldest son was diagnosed at 3 years of age with ASD. As a Coordinator with Extend-A-Family, Lee brings her first-hand experience to provide advocacy, support and hope to other parents whose children have been diagnosed with a developmental disability. Prior to joining Extend-A-Family four years ago, Lee was the Parent Liaison at the Autism Research Unit, Hospital for Sick Children for 11 years. Lee is honoured to be the parent advisor for the virtual mindfulness project for parents of individuals with developmental disabilities and a co-facilitator for ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) “Caring for the Caregiver” workshops and support group for parents.
